Why does this metaphor reveal about God's world and your understanding of it?
When Jesus says that he is the light of the world, he is saying that he is the the way of being saved. If we do not have light, then we are lost in the darkness and fall down. Jesus says that he can show the light, protect us from falling down, and helps us to not be scared. Jesus is saying that he can show us the light so we can see the truth, protect us and guide us to the truth, and help us to not be scared of the truth.
