When I wrote this poem it was easier than i thought. I thought this because the length of the poem was long, however there was a lot of stuff i hated so i just wrote everything and i ended up with a lot of lines. When i went on stage, i didn't practice a lot of times so i mumbled once or twice. Also the stage was more flashy than i thought so it was a surprise.
I am from the sharks from the depth of the Pacific I am from flowerpots hanging from our ceiling (fertile, damp, it smelled like worms) I am from the clams the hermit crabs whose shells are left behind for myself to pick them up
I am from brownies and bibles from Mom and Dad I am from the show-offs and the athletes from Hey there mate, and Get your surfs up I am from Man does not live by bread alone with benches arranged by 13X4
I am from In-and-Out and Suplantation hamburgers and all-you-can-eat buffet
From the back of my closet rests my box labeled "box of memories" contained with items and pictures to bring my sense of yearning back altogether I am from this box--- a nail in the wall--- screwed in all the way
Holding his test in his right hand, a pencil in his ear, braces on his teeth, David walked through the hallway yelling "I'm the only one who got an A on the test." Yes, it was true, however the other kids didn't like others who rubbed stuff in front of their faces. David went to every person from his class and stuck his A marked test in front of their faces. It wasn't just the bragging that the kids didn't like, it was Davids voice. The kids thought he had the most nasal voice that God ever has created, and his voice was like an scream that was projected from a microphone.
My first time at the dentist was when i was 6 years old. Older kids said bad things about what happens when i enter the doctors office. I was sitting in front of the counter where other kids my age were waiting too. i was checking out this cute girl who was about my age when i heard a kid yell from the room where the doctor was. Every fiber of hair that was on my body stood up when i heard this gruesome shout. All sorts of dreadful imagination drove into my mind and i felt goose bumps come up my body. I said to my mom "Mommy can't we go home now? My teeth feel much better." However that didn't persuade her, no, nothing in the world would persuade my mother. Then i heard a laugh from the boy who screamed not just a minute ago, and i saw him come out with a lollipop in his mouth. The pretty girl went inside next and had the same procedure as the boy with the lollipop. I just couldn't wait to see what the dentist would do with me too... TBC
Song: Aint No Mountain High Enough There ain't no mountain high enough Ain't no valley low enough Ain't no river wide enough To keep me from getting to you No wind, no rain My love is alive
this relates to happiness. I think that the author is trying to say that love, or happiness, is incorruptible and everlasting.
I would feel happy and excited because i would wan't to use the money right away. I would like to share the money and use all the money. I would buy a house, car, and some games. I wouldn't want to tell the world because if i did, then all the people would want to use my money. I think i will change dramatically and i am afraid that i will lose my friends and go on with my own life. I would think that i am the luckiest man alive and that God thought i was special. i would buy
The theme of the story "About Effie" is that people do not always understand some statements or actions clearly in the beginning. However, those statements can mean a lot to another person and it can be used to influence others. Effie understands something that Neil does not know. At first Neil did not care about what Effie thought about, but as time passed, he became interested and finally asked Effie who she was waiting for.
Find a verse from the Bible that relates to the theme of "About Effie."
Genesis 2:17
"but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."
This relates to the theme because God and Satan knew something that man didn't. Adam was influenced by Satan from this unclear information and ate from the tree.
Who is Effie waiting for?
I think Effie is waiting for death. I think that is why Effie is so scared when she is prepared for Him. I do not know why He has to ride on a black cloud, but I think that she will die when it is raining and there is lightning.
This story contains a lot of Christ imagery. Write down three separate sentences from the story that might symbolize Jesus and explain why Timothy Findley might have written these into his story.
"On a cloud," she whispered. "A big black cloud. That's the rule"
(2 Samuel 22:10) In the bible it says that God will come down on a black cloud when David was in need. So I think Timothy wrote this because Effie was in need.
"If there was even thunder and lighting and music then H'd come."
In Revelations it says that Jesus will come at the sound of a trumpet. He will come and save us, so I think that Timothy wrote this because Effie will be saved.
"Who's come dear?" "This Man. This man she's waiting for."
Many people still do not know Jesus. So when we tell them, they might be confused and questioning. I think that Timothy wrote this because he realized that many people around the world do not know about Jesus.
Can non-Christian authors reveal truth about God's world?
Yes, they can. Even though they would not realize that they are writing about God, they can write about it without knowing. There are many universal morals written in the Bible, and non-Christians also write about those. Maybe authors from different religions can even write about the truth of God’s world.
