Beauty is any characteristic that pleases the eye. Beauty does not only have to describe a person, but it can describe anything that has an original shape, color, pattern, or design.
2. Find 2 Bible verses about God's view of beauty and add them to the written responses.
1st Bible Verse:
1 Peter 3:1~6---"Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. 5For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, 6like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear."
God looks more at the beauty of our spirits and our gentleness than our physical beauty. Instead of concentrating on our appearances we should concentrate on God.
2nd Bible verse:
Ecclesiastes 3:11~14---"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end."
God made everything beautiful in his image and everything he looks at is beautiful to him. But in Ecclesiastes 9~13 in the Message it says," But in the end, does it really make a difference what anyone does? I've had a good look at what God has given us to do—busywork, mostly. True, God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time—but he's left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, whether he's coming or going. I've decided that there's nothing better to do than go ahead and have a good time and get the most we can out of life. That's it—eat, drink, and make the most of your job. It's God's gift." This means that we do not know what God is going to do, so we should live our life to please him to the best of our abilities.
1.In your own words, please summarize what Reader Response analysis is, and what steps are involved.
Reader response analysis is the connections of a text or literature to one's personal life experiences. The first step in making the reader response analysis is to read the given passage. The next step is to connect to and analyze the passage. One should think of any connections that could relate to any past, present, or future memories. Finally, write all these connections and analysis on a piece of paper. What one writes down on the paper doesn't need to be organized, neat, or important. However, there needs to be connections and it has to be legible. After writing as many connections one can make with the text, one can pick the major connections that have the deepest meanings.
2.How can Reader Response open our eyes to more truth as we read?
When we connect the he book we could find different perspectives out in the world and different opinions of other. We can apply those perspectives to ourselves, forming our own opinions. By forming those opinions, they become the truth which we believe in.
3. Why is it important for you to interact/ connect with literature?
It is important to interact with literature because we look at different perspectives. When we look at their perspective we can learn from and grow our own truth. Also when we connect with the literature we could find it more enjoyable and entertaining because we could connect the literature to our own life. If we do not interact with literature we do not learn much, but if we interact with literature, such as textbooks, then we will grow our knowledge.
4. Reflect on a book or story you have read recently and what new truth about the world you learned from that narrative.
A recent book I read was "The Story of the Shipwrecked Sailor." This book wrote about a truth I didn't know of before. That truth was that even though we give up, there is still a possibility that we will be able to endure our problems. I have read other survival stories, such as "Hatchet," but "The Story of the Shipwrecked Sailor" was different from the others. This story's main character tried to be positive the whole time while he was living alone in the sea. He survived for ten days with just a raft and four oars. The oar was not even a weapon like the hatchet that could be of much use. Surviving for ten days with no food and only ocean water to drink would have killed me. I think about how a person could do such a thing. I learned that even though I may have hard times in my life, I am lucky to have beenborn into a family that provides me food and shelter.
